Accent Coaching For Actors

I highly recommend Paul as a teacher; he is calm, patient, methodical and doesn't make you feel like a complete idiot.

 Stop thinking, just book him.

Work With an Experienced Dialect Coach

Struggling to learn a new accent?

Got an audition or production deadline approaching?

If you need help nailing an accent without losing the performance, you're in the right place.

I’m a professional accent and dialect coach based in Manchester in the North West of England. I run a 1-to-1 dialect coaching service for actors across the UK and internationally, with many clients working with me online or in person in Manchester and the North West.

"Accent training with Paul is fantastic. He has an incredible amount of resources in his workbook and on his website and he tailors his lessons exactly to your needs. He's very patient and his sessions are relaxed but productive. Accent training at drama school was a dreaded subject for me but with Paul it's great fun and I'm making progress!" Mirjam, UK-based actor

TL;DR - experience

  • Theatre and voice training at the University of East Anglia
  • Training, mentorship & Associate Coach with leading voice coach Ashley Howard
  • Voiceover mentoring with Gary Terzza (Channel 4, VH1)
  • Since 2014: voice, accent & communication coach for international business leaders

my method & background

I’ll help you sound authentic in the accent while keeping the performance alive. With my own background in performance and theatre-making, I understand how tricky that balance can be.

Whether it's American accents for British actors or regional dialects from the UK and abroad, I can help you prepare for auditions, self-tapes and productions for stage and screen.

I trained in theatre and voice at the University of East Anglia, graduating in 2010 with a First Class degree in Drama.

In 2013 I trained with leading voice coach Ashley Howard, learning how to apply phonetics and voice technique in a practical way to help actors confidently bring an accent to life. I still work regularly with Ashley as an Associate Coach.

I’ve also delivered professional voiceover projects and was mentored by Gary Terzza (Channel 4, VH1).

Alongside my accent coaching for actors, since 2014 I’ve trained business leaders from across the globe to communicate their message with greater clarity and impact.

other info

Now based in Greater Manchester in the North West of England, I previously worked in London as a voice coach, theatre director & voiceover artist, as well as a drama facilitator for organisations like the National Youth Theatre and Bigfoot Arts Education.

I now work with actors both online and in person as a Manchester-based dialect coach.

My work blends methodologies from my own background as a theatre practitioner, musician, language learner & English & drama teacher.

My first experience teaching accents came from the world of TEFL back in 2007, when I taught English as a Foreign Language while living in South-East Asia. I quickly realised that pronunciation, intonation and accent were way more interesting to teach than grammar and vocab lists!

I still coach clients who speak English as a second language (people from 66 different countries, and counting). And a lot of the techniques I use with these clients prove really effective for actors too.

Actors work with me for help with British accents, regional dialects, American accents and character voices for auditions, rehearsals and productions.
